A very interesting York Grand Rapids vintage alto saxophone, made in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.

This is a genuine early American saxophone which has now been fully stripped, cleaned, repadded and regulated and is playing properly from top to bottom.

The saxophone is Low Pitch.

Restoration work

The instrument has undergone a full restoration, including:

• Complete strip-down and cleaning
• Full set of new pads
• Pads correctly seated and light tested
• Keywork regulated throughout
• New cork where required
• Mechanism checked and adjusted
• Play-tested across the full range

What is a York Grand Rapids?

York was an established American musical-instrument manufacturer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and its saxophones are much less commonly encountered today than instruments from makers such as Conn, Buescher or Martin.

That makes this an interesting instrument for anyone who enjoys early American saxophones, vintage horn collecting, or simply wants something considerably less ordinary than a modern alto.

It has the character and feel you would expect from an early American saxophone rather than modern-style keywork, so it would particularly suit someone who appreciates vintage instruments.
